Vegetarian Festival
The most famous vegetarian festival in Thailand is held in Phuket on the first day of the 9th lunar month, which usually is at the end of September or early October. During the festival many people in Thailand (especially Thais of Chinese ancestry) become vegetarians, or actually vegans. Displays of fire walking and ascending sharp-bladed ladders are performed by some ascetics during the festival too.
Chao Le (Sea Gypsy) Boat Floating Festival
This festival is usually held during the middle of the sixth and eleventh lunar months. Sea gypsies from different villages hold their ceremonies on different days. The ceremonies are similar to Thai Loy Krathong festival and the goal is similar too – to bring good luck and drive away evil.
